Traditionally, I have not been a big figher fan. I'll buy one now and then, but they are not my favorite genere. I tend to like shooters and racing games best, so most of my gaming dollar goes to those types.

Now, when I seen Marvel Super Heroes, it somehow spoke to me! It said: "I don't care if I'm a fighter! You'll love me!! I'm packed with all your favorite childhood heroes!". It was right. As a child I was an avid comic book collector. Matter of fact, Hulk and Spiderman were my two favorite super heroes. I knew there had to be a little fun inside this box (But I didn't know how much.)! I bought the game.

As much as I loved super heroes as a child, I have rarely bought anything related as an adult. Not because I couldn't afford it, not because I thought it was childish, and not because I didn't want to. Truth is, I was afraid I would be dissapointed. I have very fond memories of my fave superheroes, and I didn't want my memories distorted. I'll explain: Everytime I see a comic, cartoon, or video game of these guys now, they seem to be less then what they were when I was young. Art is different, style is different, voices are not what I envisioned, ect.. Could be just personal taste, but I want the guys I grew up with. To me the new guys just weren't the same.

So why did I buy the game? As I said before, It was calling to me. That's one reason. Another is that I have a 6 year old son who seems un-interested in comic books. He loves video games, but won't even look at a comic. I've tried many times to get him to read some of my old .12 and .25 cent comics, and he just doesn't get it. I thought that this game might possibly get him into the characters, and spark an interest. Seems like a shame to me that a child could miss out on something as fun and interesting as comic books.

I thought the game would be a neet little trip down memory lane, and I would get into it a bit. I didn't expect to really love the game. Well, I was wrong! This game is GREAT, and I love everything about it. Capcom did an excellent job, and deserve much praise. I'll explain later, but first a little about the game.

If you love Marvel Super Heroes, the best are covered here. Inside you'll find: Spiderman, Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, and the master of evil Dr. Doom. A very nice selection indeed! You'll also find your favorite X-men: Wolverine, and Psylock plus a few of their enemies such as: Magneto and Juggernaut. There's even a few charaters I'm not aware of such as Blackheart and Shuma-Gorath. These may be from later comics (I was reading 20-25 years ago), or they may be original. I'm not sure. They do add some variety, so I'm not gonna complain.

Graphics are excellent!! Sure, there is a little art variation from my comics, but they stick to the look of today's characters. I was initially dissapointed, but soon grew to like them. They were drawn as well, just a little different. I'm now fully used to the looks, and feel the same about them as I did before. Also, the animation is perfect (or at least as close as can be)!! I haven't tried the Playstation, or arcade version. There may be a few more frames in these (I don't know), but as it sits I don't think anyone could truely fault the animation. It is very good!!

All characters have many moves as well as some Special, and Infinity Special moves. Never a dull moment in this game. I found it hard to pull some of these off, but I attribute it more to lack of fighter experience, then a fault on Capcom's part. When I did do one, I was always excited! They are awesome!!

There are also some Infinity Gems that you can pick up. You grab these from your opponent and add them to your arsenal if your attacks are successful. They are: Power (increase strength), Time (increase characters strength), Space (Increase defensive power), Mind (Recovers power for the infinity combo gauge), Soul (Recovers energy for your health gauge, and Reality (Enhance your character with fantastic new powers). I found it a little hard to use these too, but as above, I think it's me more then the game.

Gameplay is some of the smoothest I have ever encountered. It really draws you in!! I expected to shelve this game after a week or so (which is normal for me), but I keep coming back. It keeps making me think that "polygons suck, Sprite's are in"! It's that good!!

Overall, this is just an awesome game! I can't go through all the fighters, and say this is better, or that is better. I just don't have that much fighter experience. What I can say is that: It is a fun game! Whether you play fighters all the time, or just casually, you'll probably like the game. It is very well done. I highly recommend it!!
