What happens when you mix one of the greatest rock groups of all time, with the mega producing giant of a video game company Acclaim? As usual, you get a total piece of crap! It's not that Aerosmith did anything wrong. Matter to fact their music sounds as good as if was from one their own CD's (which it was, no live performances here folks). It's just that Acclaim doesn't really give a hoot about us gamers.

Time after time, I play an Acclaim game and the same situation arises. Great graphics, cool box art, and a big name licensee. Yet inside all this great packaging is a total waste of time. Acclaim just doesn't understand, or seem to care, that gameplay is everything in players minds. Right now, they just seem concerned about the fast buck, and leave our thoughts out totally.

This game hits the bottom of the barrel, even when compared to an average Acclaim game. The graphics are horrid, the gameplay is repetitious, and it totally lacks any feature that would make you try it again. At least I can usually expect good graphics from Acclaim, this one doesn't even have that. It is bad in every respect.

It is based on the very popular arcade machine Revolution X, but that doesn't save this title. I could deal with lower resolution, but I cannot deal with the control. In the arcade, there was a machine gun mounted on the unit. You got some excitement getting to fire the gun at the enemies. On the Saturn, you use your control pad which is very awkward. There wasn't even an option to use a light gun (To me, this would've made the game much better. It's the fact of firing a real weapon that makes these type of games fun).

All you do in this game is fire bullets, and CD's at the countless hoard of enemies you encounter. This gets boring rather quickly because all the enemies look, and die exactly alike. You do have some path options along the way, but neither choice ever looks much different from the other. Come on Atari, I mean Acclaim. Can't you be a little more concerned with out happiness?

I'd tell tell more of the story of the game, and your mission objectives, but the point is it doesn't really matter. The story (Your saving Aerosmith from the NON forces) doesn't add anything to the playability of this game. It is about as mindless shoot-em-up as it gets. Including Aerosmith was a great idea, because it'll sell due to the name recognition alone, but as far as gamplay they add nothing.

I'm gonna rate the sound as average. I'd give it 100% if the sound effects matched the music, but they don't. They are as bad as the rest of this game.

In closing, I'd just like to say "don't buy this game"! Even if you love Aerosmith, it's just not worth your money. It's a shame that such a great band eventually got hooked up with Acclaim.
