Suikoden is a
great game! It is almost everything you could ask for in an RPG!
The story is great, the graphics look a little on the 16-bit
side, but are still crisp; you can recruit up to 108 characters,
there is 3 types of battles and the interface is easy to
use.
The game starts off with you, the son of General Teo McDohl of
the Empire. Your father is leaving for a mission up North so you
are left with your guardian (Gremio), and a few friends ( Cleo,
Pahn and Ted). Camander Kraze is your new boss who
sends you on a few arrands, this is where the young McDohl sees
the world on his own for the first time and he realises that the
empire is the bad guys.
Soon after that Pahn turns on you and you join the Liberation
Army. From here, you do a few arrands until the leader of the
Liberation Army, Oddessa Silverberg dies and you become the new
leader. This is where the game opens up and you get a castle for
the new HQ and you recruit new members and help defend the world
against the empire.
There are three types of battles: one on one, army on army and
regular party battles. The one-on-one are pretty flashy and 3D
where you and a boss face off. The army-army battles are a lot
like Dragon Force; you select an attack (arrows, magic or charge)
and it works a lot like paper, rock, scissors.
